THE CHIEF ACCOUNTANT

'so then each of us shall give account of himself to God'
                                (Romans 14:12)

Jesus told a parable about talents to his disciples in Mathew 25: 14 (pls read); saying the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man travelling to a far country, who called His own servants and delivered His goods to them. And to one he gave 5 talents, to another 2, and to another 1, each according to his own ability.

The servant who had received 5 talents went and traded with them and made another 5 more. And likewise he who had received 2 gained 2 more also. But the servant who had received only 1 talent did
nothing with it but instead went and hid his 1 talent in the ground. When the master returned and demanded an account from each servant; the ones that were profitable with their talents were rewarded. However, the servant who did nothing with his own talent; the Bible says that he was cast into the outer darkness where there was weeping and gnashing of teeth. See Mathew (25: 26-30).

Dear friends, make no mistake about this fact. One day, God will ask each and every one of us to give an account of the gift of life he freely gave to us on earth..for it has been written; 'And God requires an account of what is past' - Ecclesiastes (3:15). Yes the Lord in this instance will be the Chief Accountant to whom we will all report to on how we lived our lives.

Brethren, some of us today are like this unprofitable servant who did nothing with his talent. Imagine for a moment, standing before the throne of God; He listening to you. what will you say to Him? will he be impressed by your account? What are we doing now with our God given time, talents, resources, and lives.

Whether we realize it or not, everything we do in this life is being recorded (see Revelation 20:12) 'And i saw the dead small and great standing before God and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books'. Yes He has His records of us and is still recording even now.

So dear friends, let us from today do something positive for the Kingdom of God. Well what can i do for the Kingdom of God you may ask? The Lord Himself gave us a hint in Mathew (25: 34-40) (Please read) Visit the sick and pray for them, give money to the poor, visit and comfort those in the prisons, evangelize; tell someone about Jesus,His accomplished work of salvation and Gods Kingdom.

But the starting point that precedes all of these, really lies with us. We must be born again. We need genuine repentance and live in holiness and righteousness for we cannot give what we do not possess.

Finally brethren, let us remember the wise words of Solomon; 'let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: fear God and keep His Commandments, for this is man's all. For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing whether good or evil'.- Ecclesiastes (12: 13-14). Read also Romans (6:11-13)

Also brothers and sisters, let us remember just like the parable of the talents; God expects us to be productive for the Kingdom. Just as we have received Christ, He also expects us to go out and win souls through our faith and works for it was written; ' For everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked' - Luke(12:48)
